Accents, Words, India and America

Apparently I still speak desi English which means that I speak a version of English that makes sense, yet is not quite acceptable in America. No I do not user rubber for eraser and I have started calling toilets as restrooms. But I still pop in a word or two that are out of place :D

Like the other day while talking to M about my brother A, I said A does not earn, not A does not have a job. Obviously they mean the same, but they are different words.

It just makes me wonder - will I ever be able to speak a pure form of English? Like only US version of English or will I go back to the desi angrezi? I have no ideas. I guess this is one of the things about moving to a new place, a new country more so.

Like my friends back home think I have a different accent these days. I say Gawd instead of God. Is it possible to become a part of a new place without losing a sense of where you come from? And if you go back, is it possible to merge yourself back into the place without missing the other place?

Anyways, it is my rant for the day. See, not sad :)
